The VIP-802-D-TS series "MegaTouch"™ 2 Port DVI Touch Screen Switch allows one serial touch screen DVI video monitor to be switched between two PCs or Servers. It is the ideal solution for serial touch screen DVI monitor applications requiring access to two computers, without the clutter and expense of additional touch screen monitors. The VIP-802-D-TS series supports all serial touch screen monitors, including those from 3M, MicroTouch, ELO.
The unique architecture of the VIP-802-D-TS series 2 Port DVI serial Touch Screen Switch ensures error-free boot up and device driver loading for each connected PC, and allows the MegaTouch to operate transparently with all PC operating systems, and applications.
The VIP-802-D-TS series 2 Port DVI Serial Touch Screen Switch comes in a variety of standard configurations, is compact in design, easy to install and operate, and is ideally suited for desktop use. For applications requiring rack mounting, an optional 2U height rack mount tray is available (see Accessories). The VIP-802-D-TS series is also available as a Dual-Head Serial Touch Screen Monitor Switch.

Operation:
On all VIP-802-D-TS series "MegaTouch"™ serial DVI Touch Screen Switch models the active PC is selected by either front panel switches or remotely via RS-232 serial commands.
Direct Entry models (as indicated by -DE in the model number) have an individual push button for each PC channel. Non-DE models have a single push button (NEXT PC) which toggles between the two connected PCs. Both models can be switched, via RS-232 serial commands, using the remote control connector (DB9 male) located on the back panel of the unit (see Connections and Specifications below).
On all models, the selected PC channel is indicated by an illuminated LED on the front. Additional LED's indicate which PCs are powered.

Connections:
Standard DVI-D Male-Male video cables are used to connect
to the DVI video ports of PCs. Standard
DB9 Male-Female cables are used to connect to the serial ports
(for touch screen data) of the PC's. Using standard cables eliminates the
need to replace an entire multi-port cable if one connection
is damaged or fails, thereby reducing the overall cost of maintenance.
You may use your cables, or ours (see Accessories
). The captive cables that are part of the serial touch screen monitor are used to connect these devices to the MegaTouch.
The Remote Control (RS-232 control) connector is a DB9 male with serial data transmitted to pin-2 (pin-5 is ground) @ 9600 baud. Data format is: one start bit, eight data bits (LSB first), one stop bit, no parity. Selection codes are: Hex 31 = PC#1, Hex 32 = PC#2.
Specifications:
Dimensions for the VIP-802-D-TS and VIP-802-D-TS-DE Touch Screen KVM Switch are 3.38 in H x 6.06 in W x 6.32 in D (8.59
cm x 15.39 cm x 16.05 cm). The housings are molded
of black GE Cycolac-T, a high impact ABS material, and is internally
shielded with an acrylic base nickel coating for RFI attenuation.
Front and rear panels are fabricated from .062 in thick aluminium
and finished with low gloss paint. All VIP-802-TS Touch Screen
KVM switch models are powered from the connected PC's keyboard
and mouse ports, so no external power supply is required. FCC
and CE marked. Shipping weight is less than 3 lbs per unit. |
