The VIP-327-PS "MouseFlipper" Mouse Format Converters allow a PS/2 mouse to connect to the COM port (serial mouse input) of a PC.
Installation of the VIP-327-PS is exceedingly simple:
1. Connect the PC: Use the DB-9 female/female cable supplied with the unit to connect the Converter connector marked "TO PC COM PORT" to the PC's serial mouse connector (Com port).
2. Connect the Mouse: Use the PS/2 mouse's cable / plug to connect the mouse to the female 6 pin DIN connector of the Converter marked "MSE IN".
3. Connect +5Vdc power source: Connect an external +5Vdc power source to the unit at connector marked "+5VDC IN". Vetra recommends either the VIP-210 (+5Vdc 120Vac 60 Hz) or the VIP-211 (+5Vdc 100 - 240 Vac 50 - 6- HZ). These power supplies can be purchased separately from Vetra or the customer can provide their own power source. If the customer is providing the power source then a PL06 plug (2.5mm x 5.5mm) is to be used, with the center pin wired to +5Vdc (300mA min).
Where possible, the VIP-327-PS Format Converter should be powered up before the PC is powered up. This will insure that the PS/2 mouse receives the correct boot-up commands from the PC. The VIP-327-PS adheres to the IBM Serial Mouse Protocol so the connected PC should have an IBM Serial Mouse Driver associated with the Com Port that the converter is plugged into.
